The Postgraduate Program in Occupational Therapy – PPGTO – at the Federal University of São Carlos, with Master’s and Doctorate program, aims to consolidate and expand the development of research, as well as to project it towards new trends, nationally and internationally, turning to the need for specific graduate education in Occupational Therapy.

The PPGTO structures its activities in the area of "Processes of Intervention in Occupational Therapy", aiming at the themes concerning its theoretical and methodological fields, focusing on aspects of human development, in regular and disrupted contexts, and the social inclusion of different target population groups.

The PPGTO Master’s degree program was approved by the Graduate Council of UFSCar on March 25th, 2009, recommended by CAPES (postgraduate national agency) on September 28th, 2009 and regulated by the University Superior Council of UFSCar on October 30th, 2009. The Doctorate program was approved by the Graduate Council of UFSCar on May 28 th, 2014, recommended by CAPES during the 158th Meeting of the Technical and Scientific Council of Higher Education (CTS-HS), from May 11 th to 15 th, 2015, and regulated by the University Superior Council of UFSCar on May 29 th, 2015.
It is the first Postgraduate Program in Occupational Therapy in South America.
