Curricular Framework and Courses of the Postgraduate Program in Occupational Therapy (PPGTO) Master’s and Doctorate Programs.

 

Curricular Framework

The PPGTO Master’s Program requires 36 credit-accomplishment (each credit unit corresponds to 15 hours of programmed activities, encompassing classes, seminars, laboratorial work and fieldwork or individual or tutored studies) in courses, within a maximum 1-year timescale, respecting their mandatory and elective characters, and 64 credit-accomplishment in dissertation conclusion, as established by the Internal Regiment.

According to the current curricular framework, the mandatory courses for the Master’s program are: TO-001 Occupational Therapy: Contexts and Trends, TO-013 Seminars of Thesis and Dissertations in Occupational Therapy I. In addition, it is required the conclusion of two elective courses, at least, (which should account for 16 credits), allowing one of them to be attended in another Graduate Program, once it composes the work plan settled between advisor and student.

The PPGTO Doctorate Program requires 55 credit-accomplishment in courses, within a maximum 3-year timescale, respecting their mandatory and elective characters and 145 credit-accomplishment in thesis completion, as established by the Internal Regiment.

According to the current curricular framework, the mandatory courses for the doctorate program are: TO-001 Occupational Therapy: Contexts and Trends*, TO-014 Seminars of Thesis and Dissertation in Occupational Therapy II, TO-015 Theoretical-Methodological References in Occupational Therapy, and TO-016 Studies and Productions in Occupational Therapy. In addition, it is required the conclusion of, at least, two elective courses (which should account for 16 credits), if it composes the work plan settled between advisor and advisee.

The doctorate students should also attend the courses: TO-017 Supervised Internship of Faculty Qualification I, and TO-018 Supervised Internship of Faculty Qualification II, provided as elective courses for other students.

All the mandatory courses for the Doctorate Program can be attended by Master’s students as elective credits and vice-versa, except for the Doctorate-exclusive course TO-016 Studies and Productions in Occupational Therapy.

 Whether in the Master or Doctorate Programs, the student should necessarily attend the mandatory course(s) of their joining semester.

 (*) The doctorate students that have concluded their Master’s degree in PPGTO/UFSCar might request for mandatorily exemption of this course, as well as for credit-accounting requirement, if It has been accomplished within five years until the doctorate enrollment.
