Regarding the Qualification Examination deadline

The established deadline for the Qualification Examination is the 20th (twentieth) month for Master’s students and the 36th (thirty-sixth) for Doctorate students, after their enrollment in the Program.


Regarding the Qualification Examination requirement

The request for the Qualification Examination should be sent through our own form to the Program Coordination, at least, 45 days before the examination. The textual version for the Examining Board (tenured and substitute) should be handed in one month earlier.


Regarding the Qualification Examination framework

For the qualification examination, the student should present a text with the structure of their future thesis/dissertation, the theoretical references, data collection and a preliminary analyses of their results. It is important to point that the data collection procedures should be already concluded. As long for the textual structure and the literature citation standards, the current and updated ABNT guidelines might be used.

Doctorate students should also present, along with a first version of the dissertation text, within the parameters aforesaid, a publishing certificate in, at least, level “good” journal of the CAPES Occupational Therapy area, in co-authorship with their supervisor and related to the thematic developed in the proposed dissertation.


Ethics Committee

The submission to the Committees is a decision to be made by the supervisor and student, with emphasis that demands presented to PPGTO should be enabled, such as requirements for sponsoring and study publishing, among others.


Regarding the Defense Examination deadline

Following the PPGTO Internal Regiment, we highlight:

Art. 28 – The Thesis can only be defended after a year from the month of enrollment, subsequently to the accomplishment of all course credits and the certification of the English Proficiency and the Qualification test.
According to the Art. 21, the student should conclude the Master’s course within the maximum timescale of two years (24 months), starting from the month of enrollment in PPGTO.

Art. 34 – The Dissertation defense can only be performed after two and a half years starting from the month of enrollment, under the conditions of items a, b and c of Art. 31: the accomplishment of all course credits, an English Proficiency certification and the Qualification examination approval, according to the rules established by the PPGTO Graduate Programme Council (CPG).


Regarding the Defense Examination requirement

The requirements for defense examination should be sent through our own forms (click here) to the Program Coordination in, at least, 45 days of advance. The textual version for the members of the Examining Board (tenured and substitute) should be handed in one month earlier.

Besides, the Master’s students should present an article submission or publishing receipt at least in a B2 rank journal (according to qualification in the field wherein Occupation Therapy stands at CAPES), both in co-authorship with the supervisor, that relates to the thesis theme.

The Doctorate students should present a receipt of, at least, one article in a B1-rank specialized journal, in addition to a submission/accepting receipt of at least another B1-rank specialized journal (according to qualification in the field wherein Occupation Therapy stands at CAPES), both in co-authorship with the supervisor, that relates to the thesis theme.


Regarding the Examining Board composition

The Examine Committee of the Master’s Program (Qualification and Defense Examining Boards) are going to be formed by at least three tenured members, with doctor’s degrees, being one external of the University faculty board or the Program, with exception of the supervisor, official member of the Examining Committee, as its president.

In cases of co-tutoring on the Master’s course, the Examining Committee will be composed of four people, counting with the supervisor answering for its presidency and the co-tutor in addition to the two other members: one internal to PPGTO and one external to PPGTO and UFSCar.

The Examining Committee of Thesis (Qualification and Defense Examining Boards) will be composed of, at least, five tenured members, with doctor’s degree, which two are not a member of the faculty board of PPGTO nor UFSCar, that way, the committee will count with: the supervisor, responsible for the presidency, and four other members, two internal to the PPGTO and two externals to PPGTO and UFSCar.

The viability of responsibility for the costs of researcher’s transport will be assessed by the Program Coordination. Omission situations will be decided by CPG-PPGTO.


Regarding the final version presentation

The students approved in their dissertation and thesis defense should present the text for the CPG approval, with the corrections proposed by the Examining Board, within the 60-day deadline after the date of the examination.
